Senior Buyer (CPT)
Role Description - Senior Buyer
Based in Cape Town
Yebo Fresh is looking for an experienced senior buyer to increase the company’s sourcing capabilities. This is a job for someone with strong negotiating skills, elaborate buying experience in the food space, ideally for FMCGs and/or grocery retailers, and someone eager to join the leadership team of a fast moving, young company.
Responsibilities:
Develop sourcing strategies for all critical SKUs
Discover profitable suppliers and initiate business and organization partnerships
Negotiate with vendors, from large FMCGs to local markets and butcheries to secure advantageous terms
Negotiate rebates, credit terms, listing fees and supplier fees
Negotiate joint marketing events and specials
Analyze buying patterns and price patterns to advise on assortment and product listings
Approve the ordering of necessary goods and services
Finalize purchase details of orders and deliveries
Examine and test existing contracts
Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
Control spend and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs
Minimize cost of procurement (collection of goods and cost of team) as a % of sales
Source products whilst ensuring the best commercial value to the business
Manage the procurement process and the supply base efficiently and effectively
Support organizational goals and objectives
Manage the BBBEE procurement process
Daily management and support for Junior buyers CPT and JHB
Build partnerships with suppliers that maximize benefits for all involved: suppliers, Yebo Fresh and end customers
Requirements:
Proven work experience as a Senior buyer, Procurement Manager or Procurement Officer
Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques in the FMCG space as well as a dexterity in “reading” the market
Talent in negotiations and networking
Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers
Experience in collecting and analyzing data
Strong leadership capabilities
Eagerness to ‘get your hands dirty’ in a company that operates in township food ecosystems and supplies to township families and businesses
Ideally a degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration

Contract Type: Permanent Employment Contract after a 3 months fixed term contract.
Reporting to: Head of Operations
